Words

Nom de Guerre's knitwear is always the highlight of their collections. They have done a couple of styles for the past few winter seasons that always look great and this fall's natural lambswool crewneck is one of my favorites. The color is classic, the fit is good and the wool usually feels nice and wears well.

Menswear, like what you feature, is so expensive. It would be interesting to know how much you working in the magazine actually buy for yourselves. I can't imagine you make that much money on a magazine + store.

I agree that some of the clothing featured may be out of my particular price range but I still appreciate what Inventory is about. Access to quality independent brands and the talented people behind them is why I visit this site and have even purchased from it. I don't need them to be sensitive to my financial situation or cheapen what they do because of it and I get tired of reading all the condesending remarks from people who think they should. This ain't J Crew.com.

I'm pretty certain that the people behind the magazine buy a lot of what gets posted and featured. Or at least similar pieces at similar prices. And they presumably did so long before the magazine even existed. Isn't that where the magazine came from in the first place? An appreciation of the brands and the industries around what they loved?

That doesn't mean they can afford it. It just means that they do it. I can't really afford half the shit I buy, but I do it anyway.

But yeah: the mag must definitely make them millions. From what I hear sofa surfing can be pretty pricey...

^haha - we're working on that! Beds for the whole team in 2012, thats the goal.

Of course we don't buy and own everything, but a lot of the things we buy for our store we buy because we really love them personally, so we end up owning a fair bit. We're not trying to catalog the things we own in every post, but they are things we like, appreciate and feel we can at least recommend if we aren't getting them.
