Nom de Guerre Natural Crewneck

Words

Nom de Guerre's knitwear is always the highlight of their collections. They have done a couple of styles for the past few winter seasons that always look great and this fall's natural lambswool crewneck is one of my favorites. The color is classic, the fit is good and the wool usually feels nice and wears well.

Nom de Guerre Wool Utility Shirt

Words

The Nom de Guerre fall collection is characteristically heavy on military references, and as always there's some great items to choose from. The garments are well made, use nice fabrics and have a great silhouette and this wool utility shirt is no exception. It's made in Japan and has an understated appearance that would work well among layers or simply as an overshirt.

Nom de Guerre Commando Shirt

—01. Nice subtle camouflage print.

—03. Last option, black.

Words

This was my favorite piece from the Nom de Guerre SS10 collection when I saw it last summer, and it still is. At the time it was only available in the camouflage pattern, but now it's also available in a flat olive color at Nomad, which looks just as good and is probably easier to wear. The shirt/jacket is a great weight for spring and layering. It's slim, has nice details and isn't overdone in my opinion.

Nom de Guerre Classic Shirt

—01. Great tones and balance in the stripes.

Words

Nom de Guerre has had a pretty interesting off-season with a lot of changes going on behind the scenes and re-arranging and organization all around. The samples that were shown last spring were pretty heavily criticized by the buyers I spoke to, yet the core of the collection and ideas I thought were quite strong. The New York brand have changed quite a few details and as the spring collection begins to deliver I am fairly impressed with a number of the pieces. The pattern and fabric of this 'Classic Shirt' is really great looking. It feels light and fresh, just enough color to make it interesting, but still easy to wear.

Nom de Guerre Field Jacket

ndg-field-jacket-khaki-1Nom de Guerre's fall collection has rolled out around the world and I personally feel like it's one of, if not the strongest yet. The knitwear is my favorite but the waxed outwear follows a close second. This fall's Field Jacket was one of the items I was really on the fence about ordering for The Shop. I love the fit, the material and the extremely stripped down military jacket. However, it became almost too stripped down, as I really felt it could have benefited from flap pockets on the lower pockets to match the chest. Regardless, it's a great looking item and definitely one that would withstand a number of fall seasons to come. The olive is my choice color but it would be hard to argue with black - both are available at Kiosk. ndg-field-jacket-black-1

Nom de Guerre Shawl Collar Cardigan

ndg-cardigan1I was a huge fan of this sweater when I first saw the sample way back in January. So last Thursday was almost like Christmas morning for me when it finally arrived after waiting so long for it to come and seeing it pop up everywhere else. Months later, I still love it. A good chunky knit cardigan is something that I think everyone should have and this one is the best. I really have no problem saying that now that I've got it, felt it, tried it on and seen it on other people. Made from 80% Lambswool and 20% nylon the sweater is much softer than you'd expect from a thick wool sweater like it. The colour is unbeatable too. The marled oatmeal is something a bit more interesting than your usual black or navy piece of fall knitwear and looks good with every shirt type and colour we've thrown at it. Jeans, chinos and suit pants all stood up to the test as well. Expensive yes, but the investment is definitely worth it as the slightly slim fitting cardigan fits fantastically and has endless co-ordination options. The tight knit and nylon mean the sweater will hold its shape for years. Available at The Shop PSA: Plugging our own store is unbecoming. I know. The only reason this post wasn't written 2 weeks ago is because we wanted to shoot it ourselves to give the piece some justice.  If you live in Europe you can also get it at End. ndg-cardigan-1ndg-cardigan-31ndg-cardigan-41

Nom de Guerre Fall Items

shootingngd-rwNom de Guerre’s fall collection has now hit shops including End, Roden Gray and their very own space in New York. The entire collection is launched today at NDG’s flagship store - one of the best retail spaces in North America. Collection No. 9 features a muted colour palette and the formal military references we’ve come to expect and love. This fall is one of their best collections with heavy wools, interesting soft blends and some really great looking blazers and knitwear. The sweaters are always our favorite part of the collection which is why we’ve brought a couple of options into The Shop this fall. Starting to work with Nom de Guerre, we wanted to introduce the collection with our top picks from this season. The lambswool V neck is probably my favorite piece right now, followed by the amazing shawl collar cardigan. A few accessories and a serious woolen blazer close out our tight-knit offering - pun intended. Visit The Shop or get down to Nom de Guerre in New York to see the full collection. Nom de Guerre Fishtail Parka

ndg-fishtail-parkaNom de Guerre's spring collection has been releasing slowly at a few shops but between the look book and what we've seen so far I haven't seen any real outstanding pieces. The officer shirts are great, but we already knew NDG had perfected those. Finally some of the outerwear has shown up at Oi Polloi including this really great looking fishtail parka. I really like the fishtail cut and teamed up with Nom de Guerre's high quality and slim fit, you've got a winner. The parka is fully water proof with all taped seams yet breathable and still made in Japan. The interesting feature on the jacket is that the bottom section actually zips off and provides an option or a stripped down field parka looking piece. While I've never been a huge fan of the 2 jackets in one idea, I think it actually works quite nicely here, although I would probably keep the whole thing together the majority of the time. ndg-fishtail-parkas
