Russell Moccasin Mutli-Brown Chukka

—01. Nice mix of suede and leather.

Russell Moccasin make a number of great looking shoes, but its one of those brands that really leaves the creativity up to the retailer or collaborator. In Japan, they come up with the best versions of chukkas, oxfords and Bird Shooter boots. These mid height shoes use a great mix of suede and leather to combine shades of brown in a very nice way.

I love these but am again frustrated about how to get them in the U.S. Is there any way to translate the site reliably and order a pair? Does the currency conversion make ordering them stupid? And do they even have size U.S. 10? (it looks like size 9 is the largest.) Anyone with ideas can email me

Randy... A 9 is the largest size available.

Your best bet might be to order something similar directly from Russell Moccasin...

Be aware that the normal delivery time is 20 weeks though, so you'd have to be patient!

And for future reference, if you want to order anything from a Japanese site get Sharp Service to do everything on your behalf...

They charge a small additional fee, but are fast and reliable, and will be able to answer most questions you have about the product you'd like to buy.

Hope that helps.

Is it possible to order exactly these from the company? How would the price be compared to the retail price in Japan?

Tom... I don't know if you could order exactly the same shoe as some brands and shops - Nepenthes for instance - patent their designs.

You could use the same model and make something very similar though.

I suggest emailing Russell Moccasin directly with any queries relating to custom ordering and price...

I did order once from Russell with a picture I had from a Japanese website. Everything went well. Just make sure to communicate clearly what you want and that they get the leathers like on the pictures. It took about 8 weeks back then but your mileage may vary. I ended up paying half of what I would have had to pay if I had gotten them via proxy plus you get tailor-made shoes for your foot (they ask you to send them a drawing of your foot). And you still get to return them if you don't like them. All in all a very pleasant shopping experience, I would never get Russells from Japan for the prices they ask over there.

Order direct from Russell they would be around $300. From Japan they are $500+
Worth it to wait the 20 weeks.
