The Bureau have just released a new make up from Alden. While the boots might not be your ideal summer shoe, they are pretty nice looking and the combination of the suede and the plantation crepe sole look great together.

Alden Navy Suede Long Wings

Navy suede shoes will always have a certain appeal, especially as our first Inventory shoe came in the colour. In fact these Alden's bare quite a resemblance to those shoes overall. However, Frans Boone's use of Alden's long wing pattern looks very nice, and unique. The red sole might be in the spotlight, however it feels more subtle on these shoes, and I think they'd make a nice spring, summer, fall or winter shoe.

Context have released a new version of their special make up 'Roy' boot this spring. It features a roughout leather instead of the brown chromexcel as the earlier model did. It comes on the plantation crepe sole, which is my personal favorite from Alden. The boot is one of the best in the Alden arsenal, and will be a great option for the remainder of spring and it might even leave you wanting fall to come early again.

Winn Perry recently received stock from Alden that definitely is encouraging the snow and rain to go away. These suede long wings were meant for spring and look great with the double waterloc sole unit. The shoes are very versatile and are pretty close to my ideal pair of this style. The long wings definitely need to be available in suede more often.

Alden Natural Chromexcel Indy

Leffot continue to show off their nice taste in footwear with these fall Indy boots. The model itself is nothing new, but I haven't seen this natural Chromexcel leather used before. It appears to have a really rich tone to it and I'm sure it would show the scuffs of regular wear quite nicely. I'm not 100% on the choice of laces however, I think I would probably use something brown. Moving forward, I would be interested to see this leather used on other models as well.

Alden Pebbled Long Wings

My two favourite elements when it comes to an Alden shoe are probably long wings and plantation crepe soles, but black leather and black soles aren't usually on the top of my list. In this instance however, the black alpine grain leather looks nice with the subtle pebbles and I could see these shoes looking very nice after a winter beating.

Lately I've been trying to think up my perfect pair of shoes. Something I can wear nearly everyday, easily, without thinking about it. Something to go with denim, chinos or even shorts if the occasion should demand. I feel like I've been missing that old reliable friend in the shoe closet that I know I can count on everyday. For some its the desert boot, for some its a canvas sneaker, but I feel that I am currently missing that go-to shoe. I've been coming up with a few ideas that I feel fit my needs, which happen to be made by a certain American shoe maker. There are some details to still decide on, but hopefully it's not too far off.

A couple months ago we had the pleasure of meeting with Mr. Nate Humble on his trip to Vancouver, BC. He had been doing his West Coast sales trip and we were finally able to track him down with the opening of the Inventory Stockroom around the corner. The American shoe makers have seen a recent rise in popularity among the younger crowd in America, and while it's something Alden are quick to admit, it's not something they are quick to cash in on. They've always believed in working slow and steady to keep the factory running and maintain a healthy business. They pick and choose their stockists carefully and their special make ups even more so. It was a pleasant experience going through the swatches and possibilities with Nate and I'm definitely looking forward to doing it again soon.
