Gitman Bros. Spring Shirting

Words

Gitman Bros. spring shirts have started to hit a lot of their accounts. The season's offering is one of my favorites so far, as there are more interesting plaids, nice Japanese organics, linen chambray blends and a new button up sleeve detail. I have always liked old Ralph Lauren BD's in this sort of pastel colour, so its not surprising the wide check looks great on Gitman's spring shirt.

Words

Gitman Bros. have quickly been adding to their list of collaborators in the last couple seasons and the latest to join the ranks is one of my favorite magazines, Monocle. Of course, they aren’t the first publication to work with Gitman, but they have produced Gitman’s first pop over BD shirt in the process. The shirts come in navy, white and blue and offer the first ‘new’ Gitman shirt since the brand’s recent insurgence in menswear.

Words

Once again the weather has been teasing us in Vancouver with some of the warmest days of the year. I actually thought about wearing shorts yesterday, so I am today – at least in this post. Along with the warm weather you need to stay refreshed with fluids and since the bottle of water didn’t go over too well last time, I’ve opted for a new Inventory favorite. As well, we have a couple of new items in, and coming into the Inventory Stockroom, including these great looking peanut grizzly canoe moccasins by Quoddy and our recent Inventory Tattersall BDs by Gitman.

Re-stocked | The Grey Oxford

gitman-greyhyrThis is it. Not only the last of our re-order from the Gitman for h(y)r collective collaboration, but the last h(y)r branded product period - more on that soon. The grey oxford was another quick seller and one that has gotten a lot of wear from my own closet. It was the first sample I received back in January and the first time I was able to wear a product with my own brand on it. It definitely will have a bit of a sentimental value with myself, as well as the future owners I hope. The grey is a slightly lighter oxford 2-ply due to its washing and color dye. The grey is one of the most versatile and easy to wear shirts you can buy. This one comes with our signature red stitch on the back of the collar, custom cut gussets and standard Gitman Bros. quality. Again, made in the Ashland, USA - THE oxford. Available at The Shop, $150

If You're Buying...

parisshowroom...and in Paris, you should probably stop by this little concept showroom that will be open for the month of March - and spend the rest of your money. SNS Herning, Gitman Bros. and Mismo have come together to show their fall collections for the remainder of the buying season. Each of these brands are highly specialized and do their own product extremely well. I hope a concept for a showroom like this can work because I really like the idea of presenting the different elements of a wardrobe with a more cohesive feeling, rather than the 'this or that' you find in a lot of tradeshows and showrooms. With great sweaters, beautiful bags and perfect oxford shirts, it would seem there is room for footwear, a trouser and possibly some outerwear to join the ranks. I can think of a couple labels I'd like to see beside these brands, hopefully our market will be able to support good ideas and products.

Madras Ties

eg-madras-tie1Whether you want to double up on your madras shirt or go with a more subtle shirt, these ties by Engineered Garments are pretty good looking. The navy blues with red and white look really nice in these patterns, which could easily go with a number of oxford shirts. Gitman Vintage also make ties in most of the patterns and materials they make their shirts in, so you can be sure to find a tie version of that great short sleeve shirt out there somewhere as well. I think this spring could see a few bow ties and neck ties incorporated into a lot of looks. There aren't too many better options than seersucker and madras in my opinion.
