Head Porter Plus Chinos

Words

Head Porter Plus' classic two-tone chinos are back for the spring. I prefer the khaki color as the contrast is a bit nicer and I don't usually wear black pants. The fabric is always great with HPP pants, and the subtle technical details are well executed.

Head Porter Plus Quilted Shirt

01

—01. Subtle and warm.

Words

I recently rediscovered a similar shirt to this in my closet and it's been getting plenty of wear in the cold. It's heather grey though and it has left me coveting one in a darker colour. The unassuming cut makes it perfectly simple and the diamond stitched quilting gives it a nice bit texture. Whether under a coat or on its own as a light jacket, it would get plenty of wear from me now and in future.

The summer weather has hit already in a few cities and it's definitely been warming up in Vancouver lately. While I've still yet to wear a short sleeve shirt, they are more on my mind these days. One of the options I haven't often considered is this sort of South American style. Head Porter Plus have done a nice version in red plaid which has just enough of the reference to keep it wearable and clean for the summer.

Head Porter Plus Ringsnap Shirt

Tweaks to classic garments to make them more contemporary go wrong all too often. Head Porter Plus though, seem to always stop just shy of offensive and come out with great results. A standard button down oxford shirt isn’t something you see too often in olive green for a reason. With the metal rings of the snap buttons though and the military reference makes sense and works well. Add the branding tag on the bottom and the shirt is complete for me. A great shirt that’s just enough of a departure from the usual.

Fall Down Vests

Inventory - Down Vests

One of the missing ingredients from my well rounded fall wardrobe is a good down vest. I've only had a couple in the past but I haven't been able to come across the right one in person lately. There are a number of great looking vests on the market this fall. Some are made in Canada or the USA, others are only found in Japan or the UK – with a fair number of variables, your ideal vest could come in wool, chambray, rip stop, have several pockets or no pockets, and of course come in a selection of weights. Here's a few of my favorites that I've seen this fall. My top choices are from Engineered Garments, Crescent Down Works and Rocky Mountain Featherbed. —

Head Porter Plus Fall Items

hpp-fwThe Head Porter Plus collection seems to be getting more and more refined each season. This fall, from what I've seen, the patterns, materials and details are very tame and we are now starting to see grey wool slacks in the mix. There are still the classic chinos and oxfords to count on, but you could easily find your self dressing up a little more this fall. The black window pane shirt is a good subtle pattern and easy to work into the rotation while the belt and slacks are probably the two pieces I would buy. All are available at honeyee's online shop, but there is a rumor that the HP+ collection will be back in North America sooner than later.
