New York Snaps

01

Images

Words

Fabric swatches, coffee and magazines. The things that are certain to be looked at, consumed and spoken about every day in New York. Otherwise we've had some great meetings, done a couple exciting interviews and have been enjoying our time in New York this week overall. The weather has been chilly but it's been beautiful out. I don't think we've had one bad meal and each day has been better than the last. Here's a few snaps from around the city over the last few days.

Mark McNairy Gibson Shoe

01

Images

—01. Made in England.

Words

Another suede shoe on another Vibram sole - another great looking piece of footwear. The red brick sole might be the trademark of Mark McNairy, but it's not an ideal choice for the winter. These still have a clean upper, tidy welt and feature a great looking suede while offering a little more toughness with the thicker, more dense sole unit.

Mark McNairy Painter Pants

Words

Painter pants have seen a recent resurgence in popularity. Our stock of the EG version sold through very quickly and the demand seems to be continuing. Mark McNairy has been working with the style as well and with a slimmed down fit, his navy cotton twill offering are also a nice option this fall.

Mark McNairy for Engineered Garments Long Wings

Words

Daiki Suzuki and Mark McNairy are no strangers to creating classic menswear with subtle twists and that's just what they did with these long wings. They feature mismatched sections of pebbled full grain leather and smooth calf skin - an almost trademark Nepenthes detail. I'm a big fan of long wings and both designers, so the result is unsurprisingly one of the better new footwear options available this season.

Mark McNairy Spring Shoes

01

Details

—01. Spring suedes.

Words

Unsurprisingly Mark McNairy's footwear collection has taken off and been picked up by all of the right shops around the world. The success is arguably due to the clean design and very well made shoes. The silhouette of the bucks are one of the best I've seen and the shape looks and feels great - on, off and from afar. Not only that, but being produced and retailed in England allows Present the chance to offer a pretty appealing price point on some great summer footwear.

Mark McNairy Snuff Suede Bucks

—01. Great suede color.

Words

The Mark McNairy's footwear collection has been picked up by a number of great shops around the world, and why wouldn't it be. The styles are classic, there is enough variation so that each shop can have something unique, and they are made by one of the oldest shoe making companies out there. The clean suedes with soft leather lining and a simple red brick sole will be tough to beat for a spring shoe. They are light weight and look great with rolled denim or chinos with no socks. The snuff suede color is a great option for a darker version of the bucks which would sit nicely on a shelf next to navy and white.

Mark McNairy for INVENTORY ITEMS

McNairy for Inventory 01 One of our most exciting collaborations this fall was with New York's Mark McNairy. Our navy bucks have been getting a bit of notice around the Internet, but we wanted to make note of our first footwear collaboration. Mark McNairy's classic American prep aesthetic has seen high praise from his work at J. Press, 68 & Brothers and more recently his own footwear collections with the Sanders factory and Weejuns. We took one of the most classic models, the bucks, from Mark's New Amsterdam collection and changed the colours, added a spare set of laces, our heel stamp on the inside and actually our run of shoes is made in a different width. As the average English foot tends to be a bit wider, so we had our bucks made in a D width to suit our own feet a little nicer. The Goodyear welt looks great on the Red Brick Sole, and is complimented perfectly by the navy blue suede and leather lined interior. It was a shoe we've been after for a couple seasons but haven't been able to track down in our size and outside of Japan. It's simple, but with the lightweight sole and dark coloured upper, the shoe is perfect for year-round wear. We're proud to present our first footwear collaboration and were happy to work with Mr. McNairy. These have been a staff favorite at INVENTORY, as each of us have been putting regular wear into our ideal navy bucks this fall. — Available in the INVENTORY Stockroom, $350 McNairy for Inventory 02McNairy for Inventory 03

Mark McNairy Oxford Shirts

mcnairy2With our oxford shirt scene being currently dominated by Gitman Bros., Mark McNairy is taking a run at the classic with a nice looking selection of SS10 styles. The oxford BD shirts come in classic colors and patterns, as well as an interesting mix and use of the panels and portions of an otherwise straight forward piece. I'm personally not really into the yellow mixed with stripes but I can definitely have some fun with the flat color panels, especially the grey and white. The shirts are made in the USA and will retail for about $130 USD. With Gitman's prices going up, I could see these shirts doing well. Mark's clean aesthetic, nice labeling and interesting approach to his brand and design is one that drew us in, and there should be more interesting pieces on the way soon.
