While it seems obvious, having options is never a bad thing when it comes to storing and carrying things. While a few brands offer a similar set of different options, The North Face Purple Label has done it right by using the super lightweight, waterproof and durable Pertex. Their set of packing cases provides a nice range of sizes for any trip big or small, while the performance fabric adds functionality to that utility. The blue, red and white stripes are an especially nice version of the technical fabric which they've also used on a great adjustable wrap bag which is also worth a look.

After a few very hot days in Florence, we are back in London before flying out to Vancouver. The cool weather is somewhat of a relief, but the heat didn't stop us from enjoying the latest collections and seeing some of our friends from around the world. Our usual favorites produced great new pieces with exciting new materials, styles and fabrications - leaving us already looking forward to next spring.

The bags, shirts, and outerwear in the collection all feature the interesting fabrics, technical advances, and re-envisioned silhouettes that the innovative Japanese brand has become so well-known for.

Among the first brands to deliver their spring goods this season is Nanamica. A few retailers, including Nitty Gritty, have received another solid selection of outerwear and bags. The brand continues to meld classic silhouettes with updated technology and functionality in a rather pleasant way.

There's something about that little red, white and blue 'C' that I love. As soon as I see it, especially above a cuff or on a sleeve, it somehow makes the garment that bit more special. I'm not sure why, but like any form of good branding it works and personal sentiment always overrides explanation; for me at least.

There's some great patterned shorts on offer this season, particularly those by Post Overalls, but these might just be the best of the bunch. The duck print is definitely pretty bold and won't be to everyone's taste, but in my mind a pair of shorts is always the perfect place for a pattern like this.

Filson Red Label by Nanamica

Nanamica have recently launched a Filson Red Label brand for the Japanese market. Building on their strong relationship with the American heritage brand, the fellows at Nanamica have changed some colors, fabrics, adjusted fits and come up with a handful of great looking styles. For those who will miss Daiki's Woolrich Upland shirt, it looks like this might be a potential replacement.
