Words

If I was asked, I'd have to say that the 998 was formerly my favourite New Balance shoe, only to be ousted by all the incredible 990 and 997 models that have come out over the last few years. With this new colourway however, a strong case has been made for a change in sneaker hegemony once again. The impeccably balanced grey and navy option is one of the best I’ve ever seen, and sure to be a hit.

Words

Blue Button Shop has just received this outstanding version of the CT300 by New Balance. The black suede upper, tonal ’N’ logo, and contrasting sole unit make for an understated treatment on an appealing retro tennis shoe, that's seen a quiet renaissance in recent years next to their always popular running styles.

To mark the release of the M1300JP2 model, New Balance have worked with Japanese magazine 2nd to put together a compendium that looks at this shoe alongside many of the brand's other classic styles. A great resource for any fan’s bookshelf, the publication features detailed photos and write-ups (in Japanese), as well as an overview of individuals that wear, design, and make these highly revered running shoes.

New Balance M998: Bring Back Series

01

—01. Made in USA.

Words

The all grey New Balance releases are always the ones that catch my attention and Blue Button Shop has one of the most desirable colourways in one of the most sought after models still available. Options like this are the best of the best in my opinion, to be chosen any day over vibrant of-the-moment limited editions that are rolled out in steady streams. More all grey colourways, I say!

The M577 style from New Balance has long been a go-to staple of anyone looking for a simple no-frills running shoe and in honour of its 25th anniversary it has received the special treatment. Utilizing premium pigskin and ENCAP components, this shoe has always been an undeniably great design and looks especially good in this two-tone navy, grey and white colourway.

New Balance 999CRB

01

Image

01. Suede upper.

Words

I always prefer the grey versions of classic New Balance models. They’re fresh, simple and free of ostentation but every once in a while I could do with just a little colour. This pair bridges the gap between some of the brighter 999s and the most basic grey ones. The subtle use of blue and tonal greys is about as tasteful as it gets.

New Balance CRT300VW

Words

The CRT300 stands out as a unique retro-inspired tennis shoe amongst all the others out there. Pairing CT300 styling – originally from 1979 – with a REVlite sole, the classic silhouette is given a modern update. An array of bright colours have been released, but this simpler white option is my preference.
