Saint James Piriac Tri T-Shirt

01

Images

Words

A nice summer version of Saint James' classic boat neck stripe shirt, the Piriac Tri features a green base with navy and white stripes. It works well on its own, and adds a nice pop of colour underneath a button up shirt.

"Made in France with 100% wool. This sweater is one of the original styles from Saint James. It fits close to the body to prevent cold drafts and winds from getting to the skin. It is this original fit that has kept french fishermen warm in the cold open seas of Northern France."

Bringing back the ‘In my Bag’ post once more, we recently shot some articles for our spring issue and each of us took photos of our ‘bags’. Some things are in there every day and somethings aren’t, but most of them are mine and get used regularly. The whole concept of the bag posts was to offer insight into people’s personal tastes and how the things they find important or at least aesthetically pleasing. There probably aren’t many surprises in my bag other than maybe my passport holder and the lack of something by Engineered Garments, but each thing serves its purpose and looks fairly nice, especially those Papermate pens.

Saint James Bags

Saint James Bags1 I generally haven't been a fan of the tote bags made with rope for handles and over the top sailing references, but Saint James seem to have got it just right. The colors are nicely washed out, the details are subtle and the stripes work perfectly on the tote. Although it's obviously very nautical, I wouldn't feel bad carrying it around town. The duffle bag also has great color tones in the blues, off-white and reds, but the shape seems a bit odd. I'm sure it would still be great for stuffing full of gear, swim trunks and a couple of shirts however. — Saint James Bags2

Saint James Naval

SaintJames-naval1 The Breton or Basque shirts have been a pretty classic staple for men and women over the years thanks mostly to Saint James. The French brand has cornered the market for the most part due to their quality garments and affordable price points. In Japan the brand offers a couple extra colours that I haven't seen in North America, mostly a few multi-tone Naval shirts, but it's these standard blues and greens that I'll always like most. While Saint James are tried and true in this category, there are a couple others making some great looking variations that I actually like a bit more. Orcival is another brand from France who used to produce the shirts for the French Navy, and have a nice selection of colours in natural hues which are also accompanied by some nice fleece pieces. As well, Canada's own National Anthem have some quality knits currently available overseas that have a more round or crew neck shaped collar on a similar body which I find a bit easier to wear personally. I think the shirt is a must have in the spring and summer. It layers great, can be worn alone and the colours and style work with almost anything. — SaintJames-naval2

Striped Scarves

S.N.S. Herning NAVAL Scarf Stripes, stripes and more stripes. Whether it's on a shirt, sweater, hat or scarf – it's great. Crew neck knitwear seems to be the best way to incorporate stripes into daily wears but a scarf can be just as useful and a easier way to play with a bit more colour. The red stripes in particular have caught my eye recently as S.N.S. Herning and Drakes have both produced excellent versions this winter. I think Drakes red and black has a heavier feel to it and although it is quite nice and would play well with others, I can't help but think of the red and white stripes with a blue chambray shirt. It feels like the perfect match and if you've got a navy or olive layer on top you're in great shape. Saint James also have a handful of striped scarves for great prices. — Drakes 'Merino Wool' Scarf Scarf RayeeS.N.S. Herning NAVAL Scarf-2 S.N.S. Want: Saint James Pieds Rayes

148-238-thickbox I saw these socks in at Lark the other day and they've been subtly in the back of my mind since. They felt tough and soft and looked great. The stripes are just the right size and a great colour for anytime of the year. I've a little stripe obsessed these days but I'm okay with it. I definitely wouldn't recommend wearing your NAVAL at the same time as these, but there are countless other options to pair them up with. A good stripe sock isn't actually that east to come by. These are definitely thick enough to keep your ankles warm in the winter as well which is nice as sometimes a thin sock can be a little disappointing when you're out for the day.
