Supreme Fall Outerwear

supreme-fw-09-outwearI’ve been anxiously awaiting the fall season from Supreme this year. With what I felt was a really strong spring collection, the cut and sew and outwear from the New York based brand continue to look better and better every 6 months. This fall’s collection is now being previewed on their site. I’m sure you’ll see a lot of pictures soon, but out of the gate, these are a few of the outwear pieces I’m interested in. I’m happy to see Supreme will be feeding my camouflage infatuation this season - the fishtail parka would be a great addition to my closet. The parka is probably my top choice from the batch, coming in red, khaki and black, it’s sure to be popular and sell out quickly. The Timberline jacket is also a nice piece, feeling a lot like a Barbour, but a little more stripped down and straight forward, which I like. I had to round out the jackets with a nice looking knit which would work well with layers of wool and chambray. Overall, I’m excited to see the rest of the collection and another strong season from Supreme. See more at Supreme

With ours you also get side gussets and the custom red stitch and labels alongside the perfect shade of light red. Steven Alan Vintage Hiking Jacket

steven-alan-vintage-hiking-jacketSteven Alan has really stepped up his collection this fall and the Vintage Hiking Jacket is a pretty good example. The 60/40 parka comes in three great colors - I like the green - and has all of the bells and whistles we’re looking for. It’s made in the USA, has nice leather accents on the zipper pulls, great pocketing, a nice collar and is topped off with a Woolrich lining to keep you warm. The design is nicely stripped down and the whole thing looks great. This could easily be the only jacket you buy this fall and you could probably get away with it.

Band of Outsiders Fall/Winter Look Book

9This fall look book by Band of Outsiders is precisely the reason why I love the brand of Band of Outsiders. While I still have a hard time finding items that fit me right, I really do enjoy the aesthetic and atmosphere created by Scott Sternberg. He does such a great job with the overall look, subtle designs and use of American tailoring and high quality materials. His eye for clothing and people seem to come together just right with his polaroid photo shoots and this is another great example. Featuring actor Jason Schwartzman, the shoot follows him around Chung King Road in Los Angeles. I really get the feeling from the clothing and shots that Scott is having a lot of fun with his collections. The playful items and general comedic scenery remind us why we like clothing and how you can have fun with it. Look for one of the best Band of Outsiders collections to continue landing in shops near you over the next month. Thanks to HB for the heads up. 3441013151618223839

Dale of Norway Knits

dale-of-norway I've never met anyone from Norway myself but people say that Norwegians are always so nice and happy and bubbly. Now I know why; because the best Nordic patterned sweaters are made in most of their proverbial backyards in the tiny town of Dale. By no means am I writing off marled wool or cable knits here, but the snowflake adorned pattern sweater could be working it's way onto the must have list for fall. It might even be, dare I say it, on the verge of trending. Considering they've been around since 1879, Dale of Norway is the de facto inventor of the pattern so you might as well go for the authentic. The Setesdal patterned vest is basically perfection but I wish it were a full cardigan. My other favourite is their 130th Anniversary knit which is a re-creation of the sweater that was first produced for the 1956 Norwegian Olympic team. Two historic knits that remain relevant today and could be easily incorporated into most wardrobes.

A.P.C. Fall Boots

apc-fallfootwear-2Tres Bien have just received the fall footwear offering from A.P.C. and it’s well worth a look. There are three pairs in store but I couldn’t put the other ones on this website. The ankle boot comes in a dark brown suede and is lined with a warm cream coloured sheepskin. The crepe sole is a nice touch on the seasonal low cut shoes, but it’s definitely the work boot I’m more interested in. With an obvious Alden reference, these vegetable tanned, leather soled boots really do look beautiful. The shade of brown is perfect and it combines really well with the metal hardware, nice height and great looking sole. I'd probably rather buy the Alden Indy boot for less money and a more authentic product but  A.P.C. has still done an excellent job with their nod to the American classic. apc-fallfootwear-1

Margaret Howell Maxi Tartan Button Down Shirt

margaret-howell-button-downThicker shirting may become more widely available during the winter but regular options shouldn't be overlooked. They still have an important part to play in layering and that's always worth considering during the colder months. Whether it's under a piece of knitwear, a jacket or even another shirt, a good selection can be useful all year round. At first glance this might seem like a routine choice but as with all Margaret Howell products, the appeal is in the overall quality and attention to detail. First and foremost, the colours are particularly good. There's certainly similar options available but a lot of them fall into the same trap - choosing a fabric with too many colours or ill-suited combinations. In this instance, however, the grey, red and yellow sit perfectly together. Combine that with a neat button down collar and a classic cut, and what appears to be a fairly simple shirt, will quietly outshine other versions every time.

Visvim Folk Canoe Moc

visvim-folk-canoe-mocVisvim have introduced a handful of new models again this fall - arguably their best season to date - and this F.I.L. exclusive is probably my favorite. A beautifully updated version of the veggie mocs now come with the crepe sole and heel counter that are now showing up on most of the new folk models. The small touches and design features like the heel piece really set Visvim’s footwear apart from the rest of the field. The subtle tech looking feature, combined with a great choice of naturally tanned leather and the perfect cut for a chukka boot, puts them at the top of the list of things I want. It’s unfortunate another one of their best shoes is so exclusive, but I probably couldn’t afford it anyway. It's released today if you’re near a F.I.L. location.
