I'd been on the lookout for a tan coloured coat for a couple of seasons, and after a fair bit of searching online and in-person, this Mackintosh came out the winner. While I like the brand's classic rubberized cotton outerwear, it's not ideal all of the time. Fortunately this spring they commissioned Loro Piana to produce a water-resistant cotton, and combined with their iconic Dunkeld style, it's immediately become one of my favourite garments.

I love the idea of a classic Mackintosh coat lined with wool. It makes an already great, poor weather outerwear piece even more resilient in the cold. The styling is very understated, in black bonded cotton with a removable Harris tweed liner, and this distinct version is an exclusive collaboration with Freemans Sporting Club.

While maybe more of a statement, this version of the Duncan in Cedar by weatherproof outerwear originators, Mackintosh, is just the choice to step outside of convention but still have the same level of premium, handmade garment construction.

The Dunkeld Coat features a long, loose fit, with an A-line silhouette. It was classically designed to fit over the top of a suit, but it works just as well today over a denim or military jacket. While it's not as technically advanced as some rain jackets on the market, it's classic aesthetic offers a timeless appeal, and it comes in a range of colours.
