Arkitip x CSC

01

Words

Although the World Cup came to a partially sad close over the weekend, I just got my hands on the latest issue of Arkitip. In collaboration with Adidas and Chinatown Soccer Club, they've produced a dedicated football issue which includes artwork, photography, interviews and some background on the CSC. It comes with a fan scarf made for the downtown New York club and I have to say the project turned out great all around. It was even nice to see a little Inventory page in the back of the issue. Thanks for including us and congrats on another great issue.

45rpm Fall–Winter

01

Images

Words

45rpm have just released the lookbook for their Fall–Winter collection and the first items from the season have already landed in their New York shops. This fall we see some very rich navy blues in different fabrics, combined with some bright pops of colour in the shirting and accessories. The brand continues to produce some of the finest garments around, accented beautifully by some of the best collection photography. It's hard to look through the images and not get a good feeling, both from the atmosphere and the look of the clothing. I particularly love the layering of multiple shades of blue in several of the outfits this season.

Three Potato Four

01

Details

—01. Selection of nicely curated goods.

Words

Whether it's for our shop or home, we've always got an eye open for good little finds to fill a corner, house a plant or just look good sitting there. Three Potato Four make it easy to find those things that sometimes seem hard to track down. Not many shops that carry vintage pieces and older items have them for sale online, especially for reasonable prices, so Three Potato Four is a refreshing find. They are easy to order from, the photographs are nice and the goods are well edited.

Now Available: Japanese Organic Cotton Stripes

01

Images

—01. Navy stripe, front.
—02. Grey stripe, back.

Words

With the heat of summer in full effect around the world, even in Vancouver, a lot of people are on the hunt for the perfect lightweight summer shirt. With that in mind, we've just updated the Stockroom with the striped version of our latest collaboration with Gitman Bros. The navy and grey options are classic and subtle, very soft, and the lightweight Japanese organic cotton is perfect for this time of year. The blue gingham shirts have been flying off the shelves so I wouldn't expect the stripes to be around for long either.

South2 West8 Camp Packs

01

Images

—01. Red.
—02. Blue.

Words

While some of the South 2 West 8 garments don't seem to fit us westerners too well, it's hard to go wrong with their bags. Almost all of them are made in the USA where it seems some of the best backpacks are coming from - barring Seil Marschall. They're a good size, have a nice selection of pockets, and the colours and small leather accents are about as classic as can be.

The Real McCoy's USN Utility Jacket

01

Images

—01. Olive herringbone twill.
—02. USN stamp.

Words

The USN Utility jacket is based on an American issued 1940s army jacket. The simple 3-pocket jacket comes in an olive herringbone fabric that isn't too structured but is quite tough and very durable. The black donut buttons have a small insignia and there is a 'USN' stamp on the chest. It's made in Japan and is a great all-season item that works well as a light jacket or a layering piece in the fall.

Engineered Garments Fall Bedford Jackets

01

Details

—01. Patterned wool Bedford jackets.

Words

The Bedford jacket by Engineered Garments is probably my favorite model, closely followed by the Baker. This fall it wasn't offered in too many fabrics or patterns that I loved, but these two special versions are particularly nice. The fabrics were originally from the FWK collection, but have been made up in these two Bedfords for the EG store in Tokyo and the new Nepenthes shop which is opening this fall. I especially like the navy wool with the red and white pattern.

Nepenthes Fishing Oxfords

01

Details

—01. Available in black and brown leather, and beige suede.

Words

The ripple sole oxford is a shoe that I've had a bit of a crush on for a few seasons now. New versions from Yuketen and Russell Moccasin, and old factory samples from Alden offer a really unique and great looking option. Nepenthes, however, are arguably the masters of creatively interpreting American products for the Japanese market. This might just be another case of what they do best, because I don't see anybody around these parts wearing the ripple sole oxford - that's a challenge.
