Words

The recent collaboration between Adidas' Kazuki Kuraishi and Takahiro Miyashita The Soloist has resulted in a series of interesting shoes. Featuring grey suede and bone coloured soles, the clean, minimal collection features four models, of which the vintage Rod Laver's are arguably the best.

There aren't too many Adidas shoes I'm interested in, but Campus 80s are one of them. Suedes in shades of blue, red and green always seem to look good.

Wood Wood Rod Laver

wood wood lavers Within the realm of tennis shoes it's usually Stan Smith and his iconic three perforated stripes that get all the love. I'm a Rod Laver man though. Arguably the cleanest most classic sneaker silhouette ever, Adidas was wise to choose it as the focus for the latest round of Consortium 3-Way collaborations. While there's some great versions by perennial sneaker giants Undefeated, Goodfoot and VA, for me it doesn't get better than Wood Wood's. The Danish brand has always had a knack for fantastically simple designs with their footwear and this one's no reason. Canvas is something that isn't used on footwear enough in my opinion, it's durable, looks good and easy to maintain. As for the colour, you know we love navy and with a nubuck lining and 3 different lace options (white, navy and red) you've got one of the best pieces of footwear in a while. Like me, you might not be much of a sneaker wearer anymore but pulling these out of the closet every now and again would be so easy.

Adidas O by O Kazuki Mod Parka

ObyO Kazuki Parka Kazuki's Originals by Originals Adidas collection has been out for a while now yet I haven't paid much attention to it. I'd only seen it in passing here and there and to be honest most of it was catching my eye for the wrong reasons. The Mod parka however is a different story. Its slightly fishtailed shape was the first thing that interested me about it as a longer coat is something that's eluded me to date and I don't think I'm quite ready to go the trench or covert route just yet. In trying it on at Goodfoot the other day, the fit was a pleasant surprise as it's slightly slimmed down in the shoulders and chest unlike most other outwear options. The drawstring waist adds another aspect to the slimmed down silhouette and the leather tab on the end of the strings are a perfect finishing detail.  While you can't go wrong with the classic black version, around here we've been all about earth tones with a hit of colour provided it's yellow, orange or red so the olive one gets the nod from me. While it comes with a pretty steep price tag, the Goretex, lining and taped seams warrant the value as its quality rivals that of high-end performance outerwear. It can also be had online at End.ObyO Kazuki Parka 1
