Words

I’ve been following the Japanese reproductions of Brown’s Beach products ever since I tried on one of the vests a few years ago. Anyone who has experienced the brand's signature wool and cotton blended fabric will know there isn’t anything else like it. They've now created a thick black chesterfield coat out of the inimitable material and the results are simply fantastic. This is a piece of outerwear that will last for decades, and remain as appealing as ever season after season.

Fall-winter always has me returning to see what pieces Blue in Green have picked up in the inimitable Brown’s Beach fabric from the company of the same name. This season the basic chore coat style in Oxford Grey is a real standout. Featuring a dual-face weave for the warmth of a heavy sweater, these reproductions – an exclusive to the New York shop in the American market – are just as hardwearing and well-styled as they were in the early half of the 20th century.

Brown's Beach Regular Neck Vest

Words

Made from 73% wool and 27% cotton and woven into a distinctive double-faced single layer, Brown's Beach fabric is an incredibly warm insulating material dating back to 1901. Historic pieces fetch a handsome price on the vintage market, but current reproductions, produced under the original trademark, are very well-made and like early examples in every way.
