Seasonally appropriate sweatshirts are a smart item to have, with the sportswear staple having helped many of us through the colder months but probably in black or another dark colour deemed too drab for the coming spring. These versions, recently received by The Great Divide, are arguably one of the most classic, made from Champion’s Reverse Weave fabric but rendered more contemporary by a splash of colour perfectly suited to the season ahead.

Champion's Japanese line teamed up with Freak's Store to make this beautifully classic-looking coaches jacket. Available in two colours, the tonal patch and snaps, along with the shine of the polyester itself, make this jacket look like something all the extras would have worn while filming The French Connection. Which is a good thing in my opinion.

Corona Beethoven Sweatshirt

While potentially lost on those that don't have an appreciation for this type of music, T-shirts and sweatshirts featuring classical composers' visages are a vintage trend that's been acknowledged by Corona this season. Printed on US-made Champion staples, the Beethoven sweat is my choice but if you're more of a Bach fan, there's several options for you too.

As vintage versions have been a cult item in Japan for a long time, there are a number of Japanese shops that offer Champion's nearly impossible to find American-made Reverse Weave hooded sweatshirt. It's undoubtedly one of the best and most timeless examples of the style, while the 'C' on the sleeve is a tasteful piece of branding that never loses its appeal.

Todd Snyder + Champion Basic Sweatshort

Whether you're using them actively, as an alternative to smarter options, or just around the house, a pair of sweatshorts can't be bad. Well, maybe they can, but this simple heather charcoal pair from the Todd Snyder + Champion line are a good length and modestly detailed, making them very wearable indeed.

The Champion by Todd Snyder collection has produced some nice vintage-inspired pieces over the last couple of seasons and also helped to further the legacy of one of the most well respected sportswear makers. This is my favourite of all of their sweatshirts influenced by gym wear of the past, and it might be just the right short-sleeved option I've been searching high and low for.
