Roden Gray, 8 Water St.

01

Details

—01. Scheduled to open in mid-August.

Words

Roden Gray has been one of the best shops in Vancouver since they opened their doors a couple years ago. With their sucess came the need for more space and a new location, this summer they found that space. Moving a little further into Gastown, the new Roden Gray will be about 2500 sq ft. and will reside just one block from the Inventory Stockroom. The neighborhood has been growing nicely and now with Roden Gray, Haven and the Stockroom within 2 blocks of each other, the variety of products available is quite good. The new Roden Gray shop is scheduled to open in mid-August, just in time for the fall season. Until then you can find their product offering in their online shop.

Winter Sales Report

Odin-sale We don't really like to encourage the early sale season that now starts before Christmas. It sort of hurts the industry as a whole, and of course it doesn't start anywhere earlier than in North America. That said, we're consumers through and through and while I'd love to see retailers, brands and agencies all do well together - I'm not about to turn down a good deal. The sales have hit at Odin, Roden Gray, South Willard and over at Superdenim. Sure they've hit a million other places, but these shops still have some great items from brands like Post Overalls, Band of Outsiders, Wings+Horns, Engineered Garments and more. I often like to use sales to pick up an item that might be a little more off-key that I might not feel confident about at full retail. Whether it's a crazy print, or heavy outerwear or just some basics - it's usually a good feeling to make one or two steals before spring arrives (in the next blog post).

INVENTORY @ Roden Gray

Inventory-in-RG 01 This Friday we launched INVENTORY magazine at Roden Gray in Vancouver. First off we'd like to thank everyone that came out for the drinks, chat and support. We had a great turn out and a few people left with some new reading material fortunately. Aside from a nice evening with our wonderful hosts at Roden Gray, we also had a shop-in-shop set up that will continue to occupy the corner in the Vancouver boutique. Along with the official launch of Volume 01 Number 01, we also launched our fall collaborations with Inverallan - including the shawl neck cardigan and knit caps. They knitwear is only available at Roden Gray until next week when we launch it in the Inventory Stockroom. Of course our Bucks, ties and Duluth Packs are on hand at the moment too. So, if you're in the area, it would be great to see you down at the shop while we're still there. Thank you again to everyone who came out and we look forward to the release of issue Number 02, just give us a few months. — Inventory-in-RG 02Inventory-RG Party 03Inventory-RG Party 06Inventory-RG Party 01Inventory-in-RG 04Inventory-in-RG 05Inventory-RG Party 02Inventory-in-RG 06Inventory-RG Party 05Inventory-RG Party 07Inventory-in-RG 03

INVENTORY Launch Party

Inventory Flyer party1The magazines are out of the boxes, the smell of glue is in the air and it's time to celebrate – at least a little. It was definitely an undertaking putting together a 140 page magazine in only a few months, along with a new website, a brand and a series of collaborations. We're extremely excited about the launch of our first printed issue, so to celebrate we're having a 3-day shop-in-shop that kicks off with a party at Roden Gray on Friday, November 27. We'll have a lot of magazines for sale for the first time in the flesh, while copies begin to land around the world in select retailers. We'll also be taking over the corner of the store with a selection of our fall Inventory Items, featuring Mark McNairy Bucks, Alexander Olch Ties, Duluth Utility Packs and the launch of our first collaboration with Inverallan – including the cardigans and caps. It would be great to see and meet any of our readers and supporters that can make it out. There will be free drinks and as many magazines as you can buy. We'll be taking over Roden Gray around noon and hanging out for the day until the party kicks off around 6pm. We'd just like to say thank you again to anybody and everyone who has encouraged us to keep moving forward and supported us in anyway.

Gitman + Roden Gray Shop Launch

vintageflyer2 We first reported on the Gitman Vintage shop-in-shop last week but it's officially filled with shirts and ready to launch tomorrow night. The dates happen to coincide with Roden Gray's 2nd anniversary, so they've decided to have a little party in the store. This will be the most thorough display of the Gitman Vintage collection to be found this fall. From their herringbone twills to the classic blue oxfords – I won't stop telling you these are my favourite shirts. The custom built shop-in-shop looks really nice as the owner Mr. Lo put his impressive construction and interior design skills to work again. The rest of the shop's stock is 20% off to show appreciate for the customers over the last 2 years, however I will still be going to get myself a Gitman. – Roden Gray 231 Cambie St. Gastown, Vancouver +1 (604) 689 7302

Roden Gray | Gitman Vintage Shop-in-shop

Roden Gray-Gitman 01 Roden Gray has just re-opened after a quick one-day remodeling of their Vancouver shop. The store now houses a small Gitman Vintage shop-in-shop featuring the fall/winter collection. The room within Roden Gray was built out by the owner, Rob Lo, and his helpful staff. The walls feature wheat pasted newspapers and old Gitman Bros. clippings and news. On the racks and shelves you'll find a nice variety of oxford cloth, gingham, plaid and flannel. Roden Gray was actually one of the first shops to bring in the Gitman Vintage collection and continues to be one of it's biggest supporters. The Gitman shirts are some of my personal favorites and I'm not alone, as they've been selling well around the world this fall. With such a good product that essentially sells itself, it's nice to see a retailer make the extra effort to really get behind a brand and merchandise it with some added attention. Wings+Horns MK-2 Field Jacket

wh-m2-kThis jacket is great, definitely not a new design as it's very similarly modeled after the Canadian military jacket of decades past. It's one of my favorite military inspired jackets and Wings+Horns did a great job updating and upgrading the look while using the original elemtents and perfect choice of colors. The spring coat is made from 100% Japanese cotton with an oxford shirt lining and slim fit in Wings+Horns fashion. The piece is apart of the first release of the season by the Canadian brand and it only makes sense it dropped at their biggest supporters shop, Roden Gray. The collection is moving in a direction I am pretty happy to see personally. I've been growing along with it and feel like every season there are a number of items I would love to have. I would expect to see a few more stand out pieces dropping in the near future.
