This fall Gitman Vintage made their BD shirt for Unionmade in a classic Harris Tweed wool. The iconic fabric is hand woven in Scotland and we actually saw these shirts being made in Ashland, Pennsylvania only last week. The wool is thick and warm, making for a nice overshirt.

Outside of their shirting, Gitman Vintage has built up a nice little range of ties, bow ties and shorts. I think the best of their accessories come in the summer, with the use of light weight, high quality shirting fabrics. These gingham and plaid fabrics are perfect for a nice hit of color and pattern to compliment the whites, blues, khakis and seersuckers during the summer.

While it does seem a bit crazy, I believe this shirt is from Gitman Vintage's FW11 collection, and yes, it is already available. The brand has started working with more and more interesting fabrics imported from Japan. This blue on blue polka dot corduroy is a really nice combination and I think it offers a great variety of texture and subtle color.

Gitman has a pretty good stake in the men's shirting market now, so why not expand where it makes sense? This spring the American brand has teamed up with one of it's family-brands, Corbin. The use of Corbin's classic bottom manufacturing and Gitman Vintage's use of great fabric appears to have turned out nicely.

There seem to be enough weddings and parties going on lately to warrant the purchase of a couple lightweight summer ties. I find the fall season is much nicer with tweeds and wools when it comes to neckwear, but this spring produced a few that actually make me want to dress up more often. Gitman Vintage, Engineered Garments and Alexander Olch are the usual suspects for their shape, fabric choice and colour palettes.
