Produced as an exclusive to Silver & Gold the Crescent Down Works Down Parka is both a classic design and a winter staple. A jacket like this is certainly something I could do with myself, and I've been keen to pick up something similar for those below-zero days.

Crescent Down Works 60/40 Hooded Italian Vest

Words

While popular with many, I know some people who aren't particularly fond of a hooded vest, feeling it an unnecessary addition to an otherwise classic garment. The Hooded Italian Vest by Crescent Down Works covers the bases for both camps, by offering all the classic stylings you would come to expect from a 60/40 down vest, with the addition of a removable hood.

Crescent Down Works at The Bureau

Words

The Bureau have recently received their first delivery of Crescent Down Works for Fall. The pop of colour provided by the burgundy interiors is a nice addition to their classic styles this season, and as Ryan mentioned yesterday: it's hard to go wrong with navy or olive at any time of year. I've personally always liked the Down Shirt, finding it a nice balance between a traditional outerwear piece and a classic over shirt; my preferred Fall layer. Both these styles however look more than adequate for the impending New York winter; a brutality that feels closer to arrival as each day passes.

Warehouse x Crescent Down Works

Words

Warehouse have recently updated their website with a few of their fall collaborations. They've put together a range products with Seattle-based Crescent Down Works, including a variety of great looking down vests. Most companies just pick from Crescent Down Works' stock fabrics but Warehouse has gone well beyond that and supplied a nice, very autumnal corduroy in a selection of colors. The tan is my favorite but it also comes in olive and brown.

Crescent Down Works Hickory Stripe Vest

CDW Hickory Stripe Vest While Crescent Down Works continue to impress us, they are still only available locally via South Willard, however in Japan the brand was tough to avoid – in a good way. Several of the shops had done special make ups including different color combinations, specific fabrics and different collars on the jackets and vests. Although I don't have proof yet, I would expect to see more CDW showing up in stateside retailers due to the increase in coverage and the fact that they make some great looking products. One of the more obscure versions I really like is this hickory stripe down vest. The chest patch and tan collar definitely gives it a Carhartt feeling aesthetic. I think the shape of the vest is really nice and the subtle changes make it a great piece when you're going a little more into the working wear look. — Suggested Pairings: Red Wing Moc Toe or Viberg Bobcat, Flannel or Chambray shirt, Fatigue pants or Sugar Cane '47

Fall Down Vests

Inventory - Down Vests

One of the missing ingredients from my well rounded fall wardrobe is a good down vest. I've only had a couple in the past but I haven't been able to come across the right one in person lately. There are a number of great looking vests on the market this fall. Some are made in Canada or the USA, others are only found in Japan or the UK – with a fair number of variables, your ideal vest could come in wool, chambray, rip stop, have several pockets or no pockets, and of course come in a selection of weights. Here's a few of my favorites that I've seen this fall. My top choices are from Engineered Garments, Crescent Down Works and Rocky Mountain Featherbed. —

Crescent Down Works Italian Vest

crescent-down-works-italian-vest Even though they're known mostly for their work with 60/40 cloth around here, Crescent Down Works does hold up to their name with their other pieces. When it comes to their down works, vests are what they're known for and the Italian is my definitely favourite. Of all the versions I've seen of it, this custom one for South Willard might be the best. It's made from a nice medium weight olive tweed wool produced just south of CDW at Pendleton. The flecked wool is a perfect autumnal tone that's well completed with the green ripstop lining. It'd be perfect with a chambray, some chinos, and wool hat. Portland weaves the wool, Seattle makes the vest, blogged in Vancouver and the Pacific Northwest gets paid off of all of that... Crescent Down Works for DQM

cres_tan_full900We haven't mentioned of Dave's Quality Meats on the site much before, not for any real reason, but that might be changing thanks to their latest collaboration. They've enlisted the master 60/40 parka makers from the north west to produce two great looking mountain parkas for DQM's fall offering. They went with two very classic colors and we are happy they did. The navy blue with forest green lining looks very nice - very subtle, goes with everything and is quite functional. I'm personally more drawn to the tan 60/40 myself. The lighter color is hard to find in a parka sometimes and the stripped down details and the blaze orange lining is a nice accent colour. Both of these jackets will be available this fall at DQM and are made in Seattle, Washington. I'm not too sure whether these will sell out right away or how many numbers are being made, so you might not want to hesitate knowing you'll have this piece for years to come. Releasing on September 11 for around $320.00 dqmcresc_navy900cres_tan_hood900ndqmcrescent_navy_hood900
