Here’s a liner jacket design from the Japanese brand Subtle that, much like their name suggests, offers an understated layer to make the transition from winter to spring a more graceful one. The fit is impeccable as are the details, which include a two-way zipper, boa pile lining, dual front pockets and leather piping around the cuffs.

Yaeca is one of those brand’s that sometimes, upon seeing the right piece, could be mistaken for a vintage reproduction company. Once you dig a little deeper, it becomes readily apparent that the Japanese line is actually taking classic military references and making incredibly luxurious modern versions of these timeless items. In this case a US Navy utility pant provides the starting point, while cotton and linen are mixed to create a custom denim fabric that imbues the finished article with a softer feel.

Yaeca has been an Inventory favourite for a number of years now, consistently releasing simple items that feature interesting fabric compositions and design details. Those high standards continue for Spring-Summer '15 with this pair of 5-pocket jeans, made from cotton-linen denim and built around a wide cut that tapers towards the ankle.

Whether it's shoes, socks, hats, clothing, remade clothing or eyewear, Needles seem capable of producing just about anything at a high level. The Samuel model from the brand's Papillon glasses collection comes in four options and features flip up lenses. I don't think it was the designer's main point of reference, but I was instantly reminded of Ozzie Smith.

Spectus Shoe Co. produces a selection of footwear that melds the comfort of sneakers and the styling of traditional shoes with modern technological advancements. The Japanese company is making some really innovative styles, of which their Wing Tip Balmoral, available in black leather and gray and beige suede, is especially good. The Boa Technology lacing system is straight from the future and eliminates shoe tying, while the shape looks fantastic, built on a Vibram Eton sole.

Kolor's single-pleat cropped pants were one of my favourite items I picked up this season, and the fall version has just landed at Silver and Gold. The casual style is offered in two plain colours, made in Japan from 100% cotton.

Takahiro Miyashita The Soloist makes a very interesting mix of garments – some wild and somewhat unwearable, while others are very simple and would be easy to mix into your wardrobe. These patchwork jeans fall somewhere in the middle; using vintage scraps, playing with tone and creating a unique shape, the result is a rather distinctive pair of cotton denim pants.

Each summer the same hunt begins again: the perfect, or close to perfect, bucket hat. One that will fit my peculiar shaped head. I'm not promising this is the one, but available in a range of colours, in a mix of linen and rayon, the Trooper Hat from Nonnative is certainly a strong contender.
