Junya Watanabe Man Panel Trousers

01

Images

—01. Made in Japan.
—02. 100% Wool.

Words

Junya Watanabe has a way of making everything else I'm looking at just that little bit less appealing. I thought I needed a pair of navy trousers for winter, but all the others I've seen pale in comparison to this option, made up of three pairs. Whereas most designers would have struggled to avoid making this treatment look tacky, as usual Junya hits the nail right on the head.

Markaware Inner Down Cardigan

01

Images

01. Made in Japan.
02. Packable.

Words

There's been plenty of globe-trotting ski enthusiasts that have attempted to ruin shiny down clothing for the rest of us, but in similar fashion to when they try to look genuinely interested in art, they have failed. That means we're safe to pick up this beautiful, contemporary interpretation of down clothing, taking up the baton from The North Face Purple Label, who made a similar cardigan last fall.

Words

This incredible piece by Digawel is one of those miracle jackets that can work with almost anyone's style in one way or another. It's a beautiful mix of modernist and classical elements with just enough singular detail to set it apart from the pack.

Nonnative Doctor Long Shirt

01

—02. 100% Cotton.

Words

This shirt is essentially a puzzle piece for your wardrobe. It can be worn alone, but is also perfect to layer with, revealing itself in smaller, less noticeable ways. The banded top will look great piled under a few of those archaic collars some people still cling on to, while the cotton satin elongated torso will be an interesting addition to the waves of heavier fabric falling over the lower half of a winter look.

Digawel Indigo Dye Asymmetry Shirt

Images

—02. 100% cotton.

Words

Mixing panels of fabric and colour is a huge trend in Japanese fashion this season. It makes sense, as the menswear market continues to grow at an accelerated rate, more and more people are looking for a way to distinguish themselves from the pack. As opposed to the heavy-handed application of this technique by quite a few brands, Digawel chose to do a subtle indigo dip-dye, striking a nice balance between new and old.

Digawel MA-1

01

Images

01. Houndstooth body panels.
02. Contrast arm fabric.

Words

If you don't already own an MA-1, chances are this will not be the first one you purchase. This is the option for those that have grown tired of the olive and black versions that get pushed out every fall from companies ranging from streetwear to high fashion. One good thing about using a classic silhouette like this, is that it looks that much more interesting when subjected to a new approach.

Digawel Stand Up Collar Shirt

01

Images

01. Banded Collar.
02. 100% Cotton.

Words

Once again, Japanese brand Digawel has succeeded at delivering a playful take on a classic. The wide blue and white stripes may conjure up mental images of Gordon Gekko era Wall Street, but the banded collar effectively offsets these conclusions, creating a unique garment easy to coordinate with almost any style of pant.
