Following on from the joint photography exhibition held at Visvim's Gyre location for the release of our latest issue, the brand decided to take the show on the road and expand on the breadth of imagery presented. Now including photographs by Tommy Ton, Taro Hirano and Shoichi Kajino, alongside Mark Borthwick, Keisuke Fukamizu and myself, the show is currently on display at F.I.L. Kyoto.

After first landing in Hong Kong several years ago, japanese cult brand Visvim opened its second store in the neighbouring area of Wanchai with a similar minimalist F.I.L. retail concept. The space is beautiful, the masonry work is amazing, and of course the products are decent as well.

Visvim is without doubt one of the most amazing brands of our time. From the beautiful product to the branding to their unforgettable retail experience, the Japanese label has created something truly unique. Hiroki Nakamura really has an eye for detail far beyond the stitching in a shirt or the leather on his shoes. His vision for his brand is showcased beautifully in these photos of the Kyoto and Tokyo F.I.L. stores. The balance of new, vintage, rugged, slick and the general color palette is perfect. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't partially influenced by Visvim when we created our shop, and I'd also be lying if I said this sort of execution was easy.
