A Conversation with Conroy Nachtigall

—01. Inovation through fabric and design.

Words

While it's no secret how much we admire the Arc'teryx Veilance brand, it's still nice to see such a well-executed look behind the scenes of the Vancouver based company. Produced by Haven, as part of their ongoing Dialogue series, the film features the thoughts and insight of Veilance's head designer Conroy Nachtigall.

Stone Island Cotton Twill Quilted Shirt Jacket

01

Images

01. Diagonal flap pockets.
02. Wave pattern quilting.

Words

Worn as an outer or between layers, an overshirt is always a useful item to have around, especially on cold or windy days. This Stone Island version is particularly good as it combines a cotton twill face with a lightly quilted core, ensuring it's as subtle as it is functional.

Words

A classic, easy to wear piece from the Fall-Winter '12 Levi's Vintage Clothing collection, these shirts have just arrived at Haven, along with a selection of other items from the brand. Simplicity is the key with these, as well as good fabric and colour choices, and the use of shell buttons to add some contrast.

Words

I'm going to have try one of these shirts on before I can say its too good, but the idea is interesting, the fabric choices are nice and we already known CYC make a very good product. Haven teamed up with Vancouver's Reigning Champ to make these raglan sleeve BD shirts in a handful of fabrics. The design looks clean enough, the selvedge lines look great, triple track stitching looks tough, but again, needs to be tried on I think.

Bedwin Johnny Jacket

Words

A navy sport coat is something of a staple in most wardrobes and a nice light-weight version is especially valuable this time of the year. By nature, the garment is something that can mix and pair up well with virtually everything with little or no effort — so it's the details in the "Johnny" Jacket, from Japanese label Bedwin, that make it so appealing. The pattern on the back of the collar and at the cuff are prime examples. Both great if you're wearing it a little more casually, or as a layer. Similar to songs by The Smiths, as this collection was named after, the brushed cotton jacket looks subtle enough at first but upon further inspection is filled with character.
