Issue 05: Behind the Scenes

01

Image

—01. Shooting Stereograph.

Words

A selection of behind the scenes imagery from the Issue 05 editorial Stereograph. The story, styled by Stephen Mann and shot by Neil Bedford, focuses on the clothing and footwear of Paul Harnden, and is one of my favourite editorials to appear in the magazine to date.

Inventory Magazine Issue 05

Images

Words

It's been a long and tiring process, but we're proud to announce that the new issue is finished and will be available very soon. With each new edition we push ourselves to produce something that represents a step forwards in every way, and Issue 05 is no exception. Our cover stories for Fall-Winter focus on Carlo Rivetti and Stone Island, and denim expert Mike Harris. These are complimented by, among other things, editorials on Paul Harnden, Missoni and Nepenthes, articles about Adam Dix, Mos Def and Koji Kusakabe, and features on Saint James, The Flat Head and Nigel Cabourn's collaboration with Eddie Bauer. Both covers are now available for pre-order and will ship on Monday, October 24th.

Words

Inspired by found photographs and classic studio portraits, the Mr. Bathing Ape editorial that Neil Bedford and Craig Ford produced for the latest edition of Inventory is one of the issue's highlights. Here's a small set of behind the scenes images that make a nice addition to the overall story.

New Mexico, Part Two

01

Images

—01. Yuki getting ready to hit the road.

Words

As promised, here is the second batch of images from my recent trip to New Mexico. These ones have a bit more of a look at some of the weaving shops we went to, as well as one of the most amazing general stores in all of New Mexico. Although some of these shots aren't too bad, I just saw some of the film shot by Nicholas Haggard and really can't wait to see it printed in the upcoming issue of Inventory - due out in April.

Issue 03: Behind The Scenes

01

Image

—01. Shooting A Lasting Impression.

Words

One of the trials of shooting editorials outside and out of season is that the weather and your surroundings can easily affect the integrity of the outcome. You don't always have the luxury of a perfect location, but that doesn't mean you can't be aware of what's around you and use light and background intelligently. James took this photograph while we were shooting A Lasting Impression for Issue 03. It gives you an idea of what we were up against, and hopefully how well our eventual story disguised the fact.

Issue 03: Unseen

01

Images

—01. These Things Take Time.
—02. Saving The Nation.

Words

Editing the fashion stories for a new issue of the magazine is never an easy process and there's always some great shots that don't get used. These images were produced for the Issue 03 editorials These Things Take Time by Angelo Baque and Rafael Rios, and Saving The Nation by Stephen Mann and Neil Bedford. Neither appeared in the final stories, but I didn't want them to go unseen.

Issue 03: Behind The Scenes

01

Image

—01. Shooting Stayed North Too Long.

Words

The first thing to be completed for our third issue was Stayed North Too Long. The editorial, produced by Nicholas Haggard, Natasha Devereux, Philip Watts and myself, was shot in New York at the beginning of May. I stumbled across these behind the scenes images again recently, and thought they made a nice addition to the overall story.
