Words

Stone Island Shadow Project is one of the more exciting collections combining technical performance with appealing designs that cross seamlessly between fashion and function. The Classic Crew Neck_Felpa Co is one of the more straightforward pieces this spring, but a good one nonetheless.

Our Legacy Spring-Summer '15 — Ignition

Words

Our Legacy's Spring-Summer '15 collection has begun to land in stores, and is now available through the brand's own online shop. Titled Ignition, the latest offering provides a muted tone overall, focusing on a variety of interesting textures and fabrics. While some of the looser trousers might not be for everyone, there are still plenty of wearable basics.

Levi’s Vintage Clothing Spring-Summer '15

01. 1970s Denim Shirt.
02. 1970s Trucker Jacket.

Words

Levi’s Vintage Clothing’s latest collection is abundant with incredible pieces culled from a rich history of garment manufacture. Arranged very neatly on their site in an interesting interactive timeline, the highlights for me are these two pieces: the Doc Sportello-esque 1970s Denim Shirt and the always classic 1970s Trucker Jacket. But whichever way you scroll and whatever your taste, you’re guaranteed to find some truly iconic items, many of which are made in the USA, right where they ought to be.

Openhouse Magazine Issue 2

01

Image

—01. Published twice a year.

Words

Openhouse is a new magazine rooted in the idea of private spaces functioning in some public way. Whether it be a studio, gallery or showroom, often in a house or apartment – or really any combination thereof. Its second issue features insightful glimpses into the Freunde von Freunden Apartment in Berlin and Philip Johnson’s Glass House in Connecticut, as well as several other cleanly and brightly photographed offices and homes that are utilized for intriguing purposes. With the magazine turning up in more shops, it's a publication to keep an eye out for.

Deep into the winter season, Nike Sportswear White Label have released a series of technically functional items that are just as easy to wear casually. Tried and tested Gore-Tex is used alongside their Tech Fleece fabric to create a hard and soft contrast that works well together, while the pieces themselves are an evolution of Nike's streamlined shape and operational detailing.

Shin Murayama for Takahiro Miyashita The Soloist

01. Mask by Shin Murayama.

Words

Marking his first return to Paris since the final Number (Nine) presentation in 2009, Takahiro Miyashita previewed The Soloist offering for Autumn-Winter '15 over the weekend. In a reference to the colours favoured by John Lennon during the Double Fantasy period, the collection, entitled INTRO., features a strict black and white palette. Seen here as part of select looks, it also includes a series of intricate masks by Shin Murayama, constructed primarily from cowboy boots.

01. Marimekko Jokapoika Shirt.
02. Spalwart Special Low.

Words

The burgeoning London-based menswear shop, Several, has started to receive their first Spring-Summer deliveries. They’ve added a range of items from the Finnish brand Marimekko to their offering, of which the Jokapoika shirt is a standout, with its simple spread collar and mid-gauge stripe pattern. Another recent highlight easily paired with it is the outstanding monochromatic Spalwart Special Low, based on military athletic shoes from the 1950s.

SoundCloud Spotlight: Pender Street Steppers

01

Images

01. P.S.S. artwork.
02. Life in the Zone.

Words

Signed to West Coast record label Mood Hut, Pender Street Steppers have been gaining momentum with their mellow, hazy house sound. Liam Butler and Jack J played three dates in Australia earlier this month, followed by a show in San Francisco, and will be performing in the UK and Europe between March and July. The duo's debut, Life in the Zone – issued as a mixed cassette in 2013 – is probably my favourite P.S.S. release, but individual tracks from the album put out on vinyl by Mood Hut and Washington DC’s PPU are a good place to start.
