One of the items that I look forward to every season from Engineered Garments is the Field Parka. It's come with a variety of sublte changes in the past few years, sometimes I like them more than others. This fall however, the black and olive cotton poly, lined with wool, paisley and corduroy looks quite impressive. The pocket configuration isn't overdone, the fit is great and its a solid value for an ideal piece of outerwear.

While the William Fox & Sons website says the 'sporting goods' company was founded in 1913, I can't seem to find much information on the last brand to be offered at Present. The simple packs come in a nice variety of colors and use classic American outdoor references and styles. The Day Pack and Waist Bag are my picks of the offering.

Quoddy Suede Chukka

Quoddy's chukka is one of their classic models, and on the charcoal camp sole its tough to go wrong. The brown suede is a nice fall tone that goes nicely with the dark sole, along with most fall ensembles.

The knitwear from the Margiela collections is arguably the highlight each season, making fall one to look forward to. This fall, there are a number of fine looking items again. Using premium fabrics, simple details and a nice dull color palette, MMM offers just what I would be hoping for with these items.

Stumptown by Danner Boots

Danner Boots recently released their Stumptown line of boots — a collection of classics from the Danner catalogue which have been re-conceived and updated for today's market. The line features a handful of handmade styles made from quality materials as well as a first cooperative effort with fellow Portland, OR based company Tanner Goods. We recently had the opportunity to make the trip down I-5 to visit the Danner factory and meet with Matt Schneider of Danner as well as Tanner's Sam Huff to learn more about the Stumptown line as well as their collaboration.

HUGE / Engineered Garments

The latest issue of HUGE has arrived in the shop, and its another good one. Aside being a celebratory 8th year anniversary issue, the highlight for me is the lengthy Engineered Garments fall-winter editorial. The piece is shot in New York, using a variety of creative individuals from chocolate makers to writers, styled by Akio Hasegawa. Along with this piece is a nice Margiela editorial and the usual fall fashion round up.

When the new collections arrive, it's always exciting to see the shop change over and the new products all displayed together. We're fortunate enough to have a top notch merchandiser working for us, so the shop floor looks especially sharp at the moment. Whether its the magazines, accessories, staples or seasonal items, everything feels like it goes together perfectly and feels natural in the Stockroom, a feat easier said than done.

Makr continue to release very nice looking items that fit into your daily life perfectly. While some blog bashers tend to shy away from the tote, and we might know why, I still feel that is has a very useful place in my daily hauls. Using the #8 cotton duck canvas, in olive and navy, the bag is just the right size, with ideal length leather straps to finish it off.
