Beams 35th Anniversary Catalog

01

Images

Words

For their 35th Anniversary Beams have chosen a number of new and old partnerships and collaborations. This stretches from beyond simply producing special editions of product, to the catalog that's aimed at both promoting and celebrating the Japanese brand. Beams turned to EATer, the design agency behind the much loved and highly influential HUgE magazine, to create a familiar and well-designed look book, which is available, both in print and online. It features not only several pages of well-shot still lifes, but also three exceptional editorials, which means there's plenty to look at, whether you’re down for some raver stylings, or a nice bit of rugged dandyism.

Red Wing Oro Russet Work Oxford

01

Info

—01. A fine fall shoe.

Words

One of the lesser worn yet better looking leathers that Red Wing's tannery produce is the Oro Russet. It has sort of a redish tinge to it, which is only a subtle difference, but it is just enough. This fall the Work Oxford comes in this fine leather as well as a few more options.

Stone Island Shadow Project Stealth Jacket

01

Info

—01. Raso-R Windstopper® Hardshell.
—02. Concealed interior pockets.

Words

The Stealth Jacket is arguably the definitive Stone Island Shadow piece. The MKII version is this season's offering, and is perhaps the best to date. As with all Shadow Project pieces, the exterior shows a seemingly minimalist design, while an unfastening of the jacket itself reveals an abundance of well considered details. The Stealth Jacket has a total of 11 different pockets; only two of which are visible from the outside, and, in keeping with Stone Island's philosophies, offers not only technical superiority, but also an exceptional fit. Water resistant and wind proof thanks to the Raso-R Coated outer shell, the splash of green on the interior is the perfect hidden detail to help cement this as a modern classic.

Viberg Vintage Chromexcel Oxford

01

Info

—01. Paired nicely with thick wale cords.

Words

One of Viberg's most popular models has been released by Second Stage in Japan. This particular pair feels very refined, almost pulled back to a similar model Viberg would have made a couple years ago. The vintage Chromexcel, and tonal Vibram sole make this a very solid fall option.

Silver and Gold Fall Deliveries

01

Images

—01. Silver & Gold Side Cargo Pant.
—02. South 2 West 8 Carmel Jacket.

Words

As you can probably tell, Fall gets everyone pretty excited around here. Seeing new products filter in to your favourite places is always a sight to behold; a sight which extends from brick and mortar to online. Not many people get it as right as Silver & Gold when it comes to not only the seasonal buy, but also the way in which the products are displayed online. The site itself takes some time to get used to and navigate, but my personal highlights have always been the cropped detail shots they use. Nothing like close up shots of all the fall colour palettes, just waiting to be worn.

Cosmic Wonder Light Source

01

Images

—01. The Solar Garden FW11 look book by Anders Edström.
—02. FW11 Men's Collection.

Words

Comic Wonder Light Source is a part clothing brand, part art project, and part environmentally sound practice that continues to surprise and engross each season. Although it's rare to be able to find the brand here in North America, especially pieces from the men's collection that are in any way affordable or easily wearable, the new fall line does offer quite a few interesting items that could be comfortably slotted into the daily rotations. If you find yourself unable to locate any of them, the publications and work the brand produces with photographers such as Mark Borthwick, Anders Edström, and Henry Roy, also come highly recommended.
