—01. Enjoying the outdoors

Words

Sunny summer days bring out the nature lovers in all of us and this photo I saw on my internet travels today reminded me of a long summer day spent hiking and camping. It provided the inspiration for this above look. The shorts and shirt (from Polo and Chimala respectively) are cool and light enough in the heat but are still durable and the boots provide sturdy footwear for exploring the outdoors. The hat keeps the rays off the face, and a pocket square is handy for wiping the sweat from your brow. When the sun sets and you're gathered round the campfire, you can't beat a good flannel.

Mountain Research Anorak

Mountain Research Anorak 01 The pull over anorak jacket isn't always easy to come by. I've been particularly wanting one in red or yellow lately and Mountain Research may have answered the call. Their beautiful outerwear range is quite extensive but it's this simple piece that caught my eye. I think the red is a really nice colour and I am a fan of the elastic wrist bands. The tonal arm colour is also a nice touch and gives the jacket just enough to make it feel unique. I would ideally wear it under a casual sport coat or maybe a duffle coat. It's definitely a good piece for layering in the foul weather of the fall but can easily be a top outerwear choice come spring. Mountain Research Anorak 02

Mountain Research Miners Shirt

mountain-research-miners-shirt-11The General Research brands are really good. Each branch specializing in their own little department and aesthetic but feeling right together as a whole is a difficult feat to pull off. This Miners shirt is one of the most interesting pieces that are currently in stock. The pull over cotton indigo shirt isn't your usual, and I don't think you're going to find this one at a local vintage shop. As usual, Mountain Research go fairly deep into their reference with the 4 pocket shirt. The tab collar, tonal buttons and reinforced chest pocket are great subtle details that round off a great take on what's become a common item. It may be a little over the top for some people, but I'm into it. It can look great and I haven't been one to pay attention to the 'costumey' term being thrown around lately. It's available on the Mountain Research website for about $250. mountain-research-miners-shirt-2mountain-research-miners-shirt-3
