We just had our one-year anniversary of the Inventory Stockroom this past weekend. We decided not to make a fuss about it, but we're still happy to have had a fairly successful first year of brick and mortar retail. We appreciate the support from everybody online, overseas and in Vancouver and look forward to a few more years in Vancouver, and hopefully even somewhere new within the next year or two.

The best in Canadian made jersey knits are back in stock. We just received a large delivery of National Anthem and Homespun items in time for the spring season. From National Anthem, we have pocket tees and Russian Sailor shirts in a variety of stripe colours. With Homespun, we have two classic Henley styles made with their slub terry cotton. The products are all made in Vancouver, Canada and are some of the nicest, mid-weight cotton goods you'll come across. We'll have measurements online shortly, but the garments generally fit one size small, as it is generally made for the Japanese market. We're excited to be one of two Homespun stockists, and the exclusive retailer for National Anthem outside of Japan.

As more and more fall products continue to arrive at the Stockroom, I thought it would be nice to put together a look from the shop once in awhile. We plan on photographing somebody wearing these looks in the future, but haven't found a model just yet. In the meantime, this outfit is simple, comfortable and ideal for the fall. I did have to throw in some socks from J.Press to complete the look, but everything else is currently available from us.

With Father's Day around the corner, we thought we would put together a few ideas for nice gifts that your old man might enjoy. Whether he needs some fresh reading material or the perfect sweat, we've got a nice variety of items that might fit the bill this summer.

National Anthem was one of those brands that looked great when we discovered it through select online Japanese web stores. After closer inspection and finding out that it was made in Vancouver, we had to dig a little deeper. Having been able to sneak a couple of their classic spring items into a recent production run, we are happy to add the brand to our stock list. These National Anthem Russian Sailor shirts are made from medium weight cotton in a classic Breton style, but instead of the usual wide cut neck, they have a nice crew neck. The overall shape is great and they work just as well over a shirt as they do on their own.

Saint James Naval

The Breton or Basque shirts have been a pretty classic staple for men and women over the years thanks mostly to Saint James. The French brand has cornered the market for the most part due to their quality garments and affordable price points. In Japan the brand offers a couple extra colours that I haven't seen in North America, mostly a few multi-tone Naval shirts, but it's these standard blues and greens that I'll always like most. While Saint James are tried and true in this category, there are a couple others making some great looking variations that I actually like a bit more. Orcival is another brand from France who used to produce the shirts for the French Navy, and have a nice selection of colours in natural hues which are also accompanied by some nice fleece pieces. As well, Canada's own National Anthem have some quality knits currently available overseas that have a more round or crew neck shaped collar on a similar body which I find a bit easier to wear personally. I think the shirt is a must have in the spring and summer. It layers great, can be worn alone and the colours and style work with almost anything. —

National Anthem Hunting Jacket

Another gem from our homemade National Anthem is this fall hunting jacket. It is actually from the FW08 collection, but if you've got your proxy lined up, there are still sizes left online. I was able to try this piece on and was pleasantly surprised to find that the sizing wasn't too small. A size large fit me perfectly and I generally wear a medium in Gitman or EG. The treated cotton was the perfect weight to layer over a warm crewneck or chambray and the material felt quite strong. The pocketing, placket size, branded buttons and cuffs were all exactly as I would make them. The jacket is a very nice piece and is made in Canada, like the rest of the collection. Now, I can't read Japanese but it appears this jacket might even be on sale. If it is going for the price I think it is, the jacket is a great deal at under $200 and probably worth the effort in tracking down. —

National Anthem Hunting Vest

The hunting vest is definitely not a rare item to be seen this fall. A handful of our favorite brands have put out great looking versions in cotton twill, herringbone, down cotton and brushed canvas. Vancouver's National Anthem brings one of my favorite renditions this fall under the hunting portion of the brand. National Anthem's fall collection seems to have the rounded pockets throughout the shirting and some outerwear pieces which is a nice touch. I am really looking forward to having a look at the collection sooner than later, maybe even at home in Vancouver. Until then we'll have to drool over the first fall delivery in Japan.
