Champion USA, Japan

01

Words

Champion is one of those classically heralded brands that used to make some of the best stuff around. Well, they actually still do, in the USA, and it's available in Japan. After just receiving our Real McCoy's fall order and seeing the beautiful t-shirts they've made, I wanted to try to find more. While only exploring their website for a few minutes, there seemed to be a great variety of reverse weave, made in the USA sweats, plain and printed. One item I'm always quite fond of in the early fall is a football t-shirt and these Champion versions are just about perfect. Great colours, rich tones and classic as can be.

Restocked: Inventory Items Utility Packs

01

—01. Also available at Partners & Spade
and Dover Street Market.

Words

We finally have one of our favorite Inventory Items back in stock. The Duluth Utility Pack is one of the most simple, functional and useful items we've made in the last year. It's the perfect size, and the waterproof canvas and lifetime guarantee are tough to argue with. The folks at Duluth Pack are also very easy to work with and we've made small tweaks here and there with each run. The latest update is an Inventory Items Utility Pack stamp on the back - although it's tough to spot on the navy.

Engineered Garments Khaki Twill Painter Pants

01

Images

—01. Classic painter pants.
—02. Fine khaki twill cotton.

Words

The painter pant has seen a bit of a resurgence in the last couple seasons. A few brands have used different fabrics and patterns to bring something different to the table, but other than the classics, I think this twill cotton interpretation is one of the best I've seen. It may seem boring, but I think the cut of the Engineered Garments painter pant is perfect and the khaki cotton makes them a very wearable, slightly different option.

Workers Chambray Shirts

Words

I'm not over chambray, maybe in excessive amounts and on garments that it shouldn't be on, but not a blue chambray shirt. There aren't a lot of versions that I like either, but these two from Workers in Japan look perfect. I've been quite biased towards white buttons in the past and I still wouldn't wear a chambray shirt with black buttons, but these custom engraved French blue buttons work perfectly. The fabric looks nicely washed and the pockets are well balanced too - it seems easy doesn't it?

Inventory Edits

—01. Unseen Imagery from Volume 01 of Inventory Magazine.

Words

In the midst of putting together the new issue of the magazine, buying for the shop and working on several collaborations, we decided to produce our second publication – INVENTORY Edits. The large format newsprint supplement will be published once a year, after each volume of the magazine, and will highlight unseen imagery from the feature and focus sections. We have such great contributing photographers and such interesting subjects, that we decided this would be a good outlet to share some of the photographs that didn't make the magazine's pages. The first edition is currently on sale at Partners & Spade in New York, as well as our store in Vancouver and online; Dover Street Market and Self Edge LA will be receiving their copies very soon.

Reigning Champ Crew

Words

Sunday feels like the right day to be posting something like this. When it gets cool, it's just nice to have a couple of layers around to throw on whether you're at home, at the office or just running around town. Reigning Champ provides quality garments that are as comfortable as they come and with tones like this oatmeal, its tough to lose. There's a good chance I'll pick up one of these in the near future.

Preview: Inventory Item No. 012

01

Images

—01. Hand poured in Brooklyn, New York.

Words

We've been working on this collaboration for quite some time now and it's just about ready. It's a scented candle - our first non-wearable Inventory Item - and we're really pleased with the end product. We worked closely with Frederick Bouchardy at Joya in New York and thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. The scent, Fig, Sunwashed Oak & Amber, is quite intricate, but the smell is warm and subtle, filling the room nicely without being overpowering. The candles have been poured; we're just adding the finishing touches, but they'll be available in the next week or so, priced at $45.

Available soon at Inventory Stockroom, Partners & Spade and Dover Street Market

Neighborhood Hunger Shirt Jacket

01

Images

—01. Weather coated olive cotton.
—02. Detailed stitching and buttons.

Words

Neighborhood's Black Icon collection from this fall is one of my favourites in recent memory thanks to a number of more unassuming pieces like this one. The familiar military reference is there as usual but it's not over done with embroidery or printing. Rather, it's a faily simple 4 pocket shirt in a great shade of olive — an ideal colour for a fall layer. As usual, the details make it. Here they come in the form of the contrast stitching and buttons. It's just such an easy top to wear and with so many different things.
