Spring Colour from Loftman Coop Umeda

Words

It's always a little disorientating to see the first splashes of colour, as the spring collections begin to arrive. Eventually though, those feelings give way to excitement and the realization that warmer climates and brighter clothes are not too far away. Loftman have done an excellent job styling together some of these brighter spring items alongside more muted autumn tones, as a lead-in to the season ahead.

Rocky Mountain Featherbed at Silver & Gold

01

Info

—01. Khaki, Olive, Black.

Words

You could quite easily write about something new at Silver & Gold every week. In fact; I pretty much do. However, when the subject matter contains both great product and interesting presentation, what's to dislike? That it's not from a store based in the US maybe, or perhaps that it's yet another vest I'm posting, while still not sure if I'm ready to change the habit of a short lifetime, and make the leap of purchase myself. Those two reasons aside, the Military Down Vest from Rocky Mountain looks like a pretty solid addition to anyone's winter wardrobe. Whether you track it down and make the purchase from home, or abroad.

Sale Report: Present

01

Words

The sales are definitely on and in full force in most shops around the world. On one hand, I don't like to see it, and definitely not too early as it hurts the industry, the brands and the retailers. On the other hand, I am a consumer and it is great to get a good deal. Lots of shops have heavily discounted merchandise, but Present has some of the best items in decent size runs that I've seen. These are a couple of items I've been eying up this fall, but there are many more to be found.

Rocky Mountain Featherbed Vests

Words

Rocky Mountain Featherbed has made a strong case for the best quality down vests on the market. With a variety of interesting fabrics, fine leathers and nice construction, the brand has made the transition from Japan to the western world pretty well it seems. While the designs are a little too much for me, they do look great and the blanket wool looks particularly interesting. I personally would opt for something a little more simple like those by Mt. Rainier Design, but there is no denying that there is something appealing about these winter pieces.

Fall Down Vests

Inventory - Down Vests

One of the missing ingredients from my well rounded fall wardrobe is a good down vest. I've only had a couple in the past but I haven't been able to come across the right one in person lately. There are a number of great looking vests on the market this fall. Some are made in Canada or the USA, others are only found in Japan or the UK – with a fair number of variables, your ideal vest could come in wool, chambray, rip stop, have several pockets or no pockets, and of course come in a selection of weights. Here's a few of my favorites that I've seen this fall. My top choices are from Engineered Garments, Crescent Down Works and Rocky Mountain Featherbed. —
