Saucony x White Mountaineering Courageous

Words

Saucony has always made classic running shoes in the vein of the more ubiquitous New Balance. I find them slightly more unique than New Balance, only if for the sheer fact that they are not as recognizable. White Mountaineering has done a collaboration for SS13 picking up where they left off last season with the Jazz model, they have made three different colourways in the, only slightly less retro, Courageous model.

Words

This simple tonal backpack from White Mountaineering's Wardrobe line has some nice details and comes in a variety of colours. These earth toned versions particularly caught my eye, but there's three other options available - black, navy and grey.

White Mountaineering Luggage Jacket

Words

White Mountaineering is a brand we should expect to see more of in the near future as their western world distribution has opened up this fall. One of the first shops to receive some of the fall collection is The Glade in Germany. The Luggage Jacket features a Gore-Tex shell lining, branded taped seams and an interesting expandable hood. It has more than enough storage too. The front features multiple pockets, not to mention a couple on the interior, meaning you can leave your bag at home and fill up your jacket instead.

White Mountaineering, Tokyo

—01. 2nd floor shop in Daikanyama.

Words

One of the most interesting visits we made last fall was to the White Mountaineering shop in Tokyo. We had seen a lot of the brand online and never in person, so it's always exciting meeting something in the flesh for the first time. The shop was definitely striking, from the stairway to the window to the wall. Painting things white is nothing too revolutionary, but these photos of the shop felt pretty beautiful.

In our spring issue, Owen Parrott describes the trip and afternoon we spent with White Mountaineering.

Coming Soon: INVENTORY 02 Spring–Summer 2010

01

Details

—01. Both covers will be available next week.

Words

It’s been a very compact and exciting spring so far this year as we have new developments in all aspects of Inventory, but our main focus has been the production of our second issue of the magazine. Finally our Spring–Summer 2010 issue is going to the printers and we are excited to present the two covers for the upcoming offering. We feel the new issue not only met the standard of our initial launch but perhaps exceeded it with a more diverse range of content, some great new contributors and an additional 30 pages. Featured in our spring issue are Margaret Howell, The Real McCoy’s, Beams, White Mountaineering, Our Legacy, Wm. J. Mills & Co., Unis, New Balance and several other fascinating people, brands and stories. The issue will be available to pre-order through the Inventory Stockroom next week and will be shipping and hitting shelves in early/mid-May.

White Mountaineering Faire Isle Cardigan

white-mountaineering-faire-isle-cardiganWhite Mountaineering seem to have their Faire Isle incorporation down this fall. We saw the lovely socks from Simon and now the cardigan with the same pattern has my attention. While I actually prefer the lighter colored version, the navy and red does work really well and would meld nicely with chambray or a heavy oxford shirt. Browsing the White Mountaineering website again I am continually impressed by each piece. It's really strong and while their choice of models is questionable, the clothing itself is strong enough to look past their men of choice. When it comes to Faire Isle patterns, I probably do like the best on a cardigan or vest. They are best layered within an outfit and when the top portion is blocked in a solid color, it is even nicer. The knit isn't available around here but if you are in Japan, tracking it down for the suggested retail price of $250 would likely be worth the effort.

Look | Fall Sunday

look-fall-sundayIt seemed like it was about time for another curated Sunday outfit. Built for milling around town, carrying some firewood, drinking multiple cups of Joe and fixing a set of French doors - this outfit is comfortable and easy to wear and should get you through any weekend event. The items feel sort of thrown together in terms of their color and different array of materials, but that's kind of how my Sunday's are. The EG workaday cords just jumped onto my must buy list while the other items are all classic stand alone pieces. Woolrich shirt, Barbour vest, Alden boots, Scala bucket hat, WM socks and Sierra Designs parka. You can strip down the layers if need be but at this time of year scarves and gloves aren't needed, just some corduroy, wool and water repellent materials for an easy indoor-outdoor ensemble.
