Words

Our latest series of Looks were shot at Charles H. Scott Gallery and Sunrise Market in Vancouver. While perusing Rodney Graham's show, Props and Other Paintings, and shopping for fresh fruit and veg, we offer a look at some of the season's simple essentials from the likes of Margaret Howell, John Smedley, Engineered Garments and Yaeca, worn with accessories from Beams Plus, Whitehouse Cox and orSlow, amongst others.

orSlow BD Shirts

Words

orSlow’s BD shirts are some of my favourites, not just for their exceptional exclusive fabrics but also for their impeccable fit. Not overly slim and slightly longer than most, they have a classic shape that works very well with both narrower and wider pants in equal measure. The denim version has been my choice for quite a while now, but seeing this durable, warm wool-blend version has me contemplating adding another strong fall-winter option to my wardrobe.

Words

orSlow's offering for Spring-Summer '14 has been one of their strongest to date. As always, the fabrics are a highlight of the collection, and the indigo check cloths, custom-made for the brand and used on these BD shirts, are especially nice. They have a great feel to them, and they're the perfect weight for the season.

orSlow x Fennica Kenneth Jacket

01

Image

—01. Made in Japan.

Words

orSlow and Fennica's collaborations have been catching my eye over and over again for a few seasons now. This jacket is a pretty faithful reproduction of a 20th century chore coat, but the fit is more modern and ultimately more wearable. The rich indigo blue colouring and pink bar tack reinforcements add some interest, as well as the fabric, which is destined to be as good as all of orSlow's other products.
