Supreme Book

01

Image

—01. Now available at Supreme, $68.

Words

As soon as I read about this book coming out it became a must have. There aren’t many brands that have shaped our culture and market place like Supreme. Even growing up out on the West Coast of Canada, Supreme always had a legendary feel and aspect through the bits that could be found at twentyfour or Richard Kidd. Then being able to visit NY, LA and Tokyo in recent years – it was always high on the list. The brand is unique in many ways but the foundation of New York set the tone and allowed the boiling pot to bring influence from all over and channel them into something special. Rather than take photos of all of the pages, I would recommend picking up a copy for yourself.

Words

The Makr brand has been continuing to impress us with the new products; working with Horween and a couple new tote bags are just a couple of the reasons. Besides the products Jason Gregory, the man behind the brand, has been publishing a blog on the brand’s website. Sometimes it’s directly related to new products, design or manufacturing, but lots of the time it’s simply inspiring images and nice photography. Recently he posted some behind the scenes images which are worth a look. The photography is beautiful and the overall curation of the blog is quite nice and one for the RSS.

Plain & Simple: Supreme Oxfords

Words

While Supreme’s collection has been in full swing through their own shops and their stall at Dover Street Market, some of the overseas shops like The Glade have just received and posted some images of their edited buys. I suppose it might also be due to the fact that not every shop is able to post images online. That said, some of the best things Supreme make are their most simple, iconic and classic. Camp caps, baseball jackets, chinos and BD shirts are always among my favorites. If you weren’t into the trimly cut Thom Browne collaborations, the standard Supreme oxfords come in a nice selection of colors including a great looking red. The silhouette is nice, the collars are a good size if you don’t need to sport any neck-wear and the detailing is well considered.

Coming Soon: INVENTORY 02 Spring–Summer 2010

Words

It’s been a very compact and exciting spring so far this year as we have new developments in all aspects of Inventory, but our main focus has been the production of our second issue of the magazine. Finally our Spring–Summer 2010 issue is going to the printers and we are excited to present the two covers for the upcoming offering. We feel the new issue not only met the standard of our initial launch but perhaps exceeded it with a more diverse range of content, some great new contributors and an additional 30 pages. Featured in our spring issue are Margaret Howell, The Real McCoy’s, Beams, White Mountaineering, Our Legacy, Wm. J. Mills & Co., Unis, New Balance and several other fascinating people, brands and stories. The issue will be available to pre-order through the Inventory Stockroom next week and will be shipping and hitting shelves in early/mid-May.

Stormy Kromer by Steven Alan

Words

Usually known for its fall weather setting, Stormy Kromer’s signature hat has been nicely re-appropriated for the spring by Steven Alan. Using a nice variety of chambray, plaid and lightweight cotton, the hat is a nice looking option that might not otherwise have been suitable for the spring. It’s more than likely available at Steven Alan shops in the US, but also at Nitty Gritty overseas.

MHL Printed Stripes

01

Images

—01. Red.

Words

The striped tee is one of the most simple and effective summer items to have on hand. I was about to write something about Saint James short sleeve versions but this nice little offering from MHL just popped up at Honyee. The soft colors offer a great palette and allow you to play with something a little brighter like the red or something more classic like the blue. I would happily have each one of these and wear them regularly for the next 6 months.

Anachronorm Canvas Tote Bag

Words

Anachronorm are more known for their rough wearing jackets, trousers and shirting but this spring they have a clean and classic looking canvas tote bag to add to the mix. While there is pretty much no excuse for Japanese brands not to offer a great canvas bag, and there are many, this one is particularly good looking. I like the subtle pattern on the inside pockets, nice color hits and the nicely finished rivets. An ideal size and perfect in any color.

Unis Nolita

Words

While I wasn’t sure it was even possible, but the Unis flagship store on Elizabeth St. in New York managed to get even more welcoming this past Thursday. As we mentioned last week, our friend Kyle Garner from Sit and Read Furniture teamed up with Unis to re-fit their Nolita home base. The combination of left-over Unis fabrics and Kyle’s classical furnishings have resulted in a perfectly unassuming interior. Clean lines and a great arrangement for a nice open space and great garments; it’s what a clothing store should look like.
